Winnwell hockey equipment is the oldest name in Canadian hockey circles. Originally incorporated as Wellinger Limited it underwent a name change becoming Wellinger & Dunn in the mid 50's and eventually became Winnwell Sporting Goods Limited in 1976. Winnwell was sold to Cooper Canada in 1978, largest manufacturer of hockey equipment in the world. Cooper was particularly interested in capitalizing on the 'new' Winnwell hockey helmet design that became famous by it's use by Mark Messier and many other NHL star's in the late 70's early 80's. In 1980 the Winnwell trademark was acquired by Irwin Toy Limited. Brimatin Holdings Inc purchased the Winnwell trademark in 2003.
